choosing a careerWhether it’s your first career or you want to make a change, it’s important to make the right choice if you want a career you’ll be happy in. You want a job where you are driven and where you have a chance to move forward. Nothing is worse than getting stuck in a boring job with no chance of moving forward and not feeling as though you can ever get ahead.

Your career move can depend on whether you like the job you currently have, whether you have a degree or when you got the one you have, and what you like to do in general. Maybe you want to launch your own business or maybe you just want to do something new. Here are some tips for helping you pick what you want to do.

Do You Like To Help People?

Maybe you are feeling unfulfilled in your current career because you’re pushing punching keys or crunching numbers and you want to do something more. Maybe you’re longing to have a job that allows you to help other people. If you don’t have a degree for one of those types of jobs you may want to look into a good college, like Maryville University, where you could get a nursing degree.

There are all kinds of career options for people that want to help others. If nursing isn’t your thing, you may want to look into getting a degree in fitness, counseling, or even in nutrition. Look at what you’re passionate about and turn it into a career option.

Do You Work Well With Others?

If you work well with others you may want to consider a career that allows you to work with people. Your career helping people could do that, but it’s not the only option. Maybe you want to go to school to become a teacher or maybe you would be perfect starting a daycare if the people you like are little ones.

Getting into sales is another great way to work with others. There are many options when it comes to sales, and can help to get a job selling something you use yourself or are passionate about. You could even go into direct sales and essentially work for yourself.

Would You Rather Be Your Own Boss?

Maybe the career change you want to make is to go into business for yourself. Sometimes making someone else money can be daunting and wear on you. At some point, you feel like you need to dive in and try to go it alone.

Before you quit your day job make sure you have a solid business plan and enough money to live on for a few months. Your business probably isn’t going to start making a profit for a while, up to a year even, so you want to be well prepared.
