momWhen it comes to being a mom, you can never be too prepared for anything that might come your way.  From spills to accidents, to full-fledged breakdowns in the middle of the grocery aisle, you just never know what can catch you off guard.

The seasoned mother knows that there is no limit to what can possibly stain your shirt or make a thousand tiny crumbs all over your car floor.   Planning ahead is the best possible thing that you can do when even going somewhere as simple as the grocery store a block away!

In an ideal world, a mom could carry around a golf cart full of everything she could possibly need.  Since things aren’t always that convenient, however, here is a list of the top 5 things a mom should keep in her purse at the minimum.  And if you don’t think they’ll fit, you might just want to get a bigger purse!

Snacks

The dreaded blood sugar meltdown.  Every mother knows that a child’s hunger can seem to go from a 2 to a 19 in as short as the duration of the theme song of Peppa Pig.  You better have snacks, they better be good, and they better be easy to open and serve while operating a vehicle.

For older children, fresh fruit, protein bars, and cheese sticks can be perfect bite size and healthy snacks to throw in your purse.  For younger babies, squeezable purees are great for on the go meals since you can’t exactly pull out the high chair, a bib, jar of baby food, and spoon all the time.

Baby Wipes

Whether it’s sticky fingers, boogers, or an emergency side of the road poop, baby wipes are a lifesaver.  You’ll find that even after your children are well past the potty training phase you will treasure the convenience of these little genius inventions.

Sometimes you simply don’t have access to running water and soap, so a baby wipe is called for. Not only do they sell compact travel sizes but the packaging keeps the moisture locked and ready to be reached for at any moment.  Whoever invented the baby wipe should have been given the Nobel Peace Prize.

Pen and Paper

Sometimes grown-ups are just plain boring.  Even for grown-ups.  Keeping a pen and paper in your bag is a simple activity you can pull out to entertain your kid, regardless of age.  Not only is it an activity, but you never know when you’ll need to write something down, or fill out a form.

Regardless of the modern digital age, the logic of having a pen and a paper on hand will never fade.
