house for saleWhen you put your house on the market, you expect that your house will sell right away.  We have visions  of the first person who lays eyes on it to put in an offer, followed by the next person who views it to put in an even higher offer until it’s a full-on bidding war and now your house is about to be sold for millions!

Sometimes it doesn’t play out like this, however.  Your dreams of making a million off your house start to look dreary as you wonder if you’ll even make $100,000 off of it.  The panic sets in as all your plans that are depending on this sale going through are put on hold.

You aren’t alone, however.  There are plenty of people that have hit roadblocks on the way to selling their property.  All it takes is some adjusting of some crucial areas.

Take a look at some of the most recommended things to when you’ve got a house on the market that just doesn’t seem to want to sell.

Adjust Staging

When people walk into a property that they are considering purchasing for a large amount of money and moving into, they should be able to envision themselves living there.  It’s up to you to set that stage for them.

The house should be decorated in a chic and sophisticated way that screams “this is your home” when people walk in.

Make sure it doesn’t look plastic or too staged.  The house should be welcoming, and less like a catalog.

Consider hiring a professional stager.  These people specialize in interior design that does the trick in making people want to call the house they’re viewing their own.

Add Some Updates

If your house is too much of a fixer-upper, people may be too overwhelmed by the work ahead of them.  Try alleviating some of that pressure that a buyer takes on when they purchase a new house by adding a few updates.

If the deck is rotting and will need to be replaced, just redo the deck.  The cost of the remodel will set you back, but the improvement it will make on your probability of selling your property will be well worth it.

Hire a New Agent

At the end of the day, if your house isn’t selling, you may just need a new agent altogether.  If your agent is doing their job, and you have weighed out all of the factors then there is no reason why your house shouldn’t sell after a reasonable amount of time.

This may call for a staff change altogether.  Have a talk with your agent and ensure that you’re both on the same page.  If you aren’t, then don’t waste any more time. Go find a new one now!
