The other day, a friend and I were discussing the lack of chivalry left in this world.
“Well, women asked for equality, and now they have it, they complain that men don’t hold the doors for them anymore. They never know what they want,” my friend said.
I disagree with that kind of statement. I believe in holding the door for someone when necessary, whether that person is a man or a woman. Being considerate and respectful of others is important, no matter what the setting is.
Today, I cam across an excellent article by Robin Thornton, which puts things in perspective better for social media than I ever would. I particularly like the questions that she asks the reader:
“Have we just fallen out of the habit of being good citizens, friendly neighbours and responsible, responsive, members of community?
What is really so urgent that would make it right to become less than polite, caring citizens?”
