There seems to be a real disconnect between what businesses think social media marketing requires – and what it really does require. This article includes an excellent Infographic with data that shows things such as the time and money organizations currently allocate towards their social media programs. Evidently, larger organizations are just as tight with their social media marketing budgets as their SMB counterparts. Sadly, the clients are the ones who may be the most dissatisfied. Have you ever thought that being a community manager for a huge multimedia conglomerate must be a pretty sweet gig?  It turns out that may not be the case.

Ragan Publications released a fantastic white paper “Structuring a Social Media Team,” which suggests that a lot of the struggles that community managers face are universal, agnostic of the size of their organization.  It paints a picture of an increasing overwhelming landscape of social profiles, with little time to manage and no clear metrics or direction for success.
