Is your future freelancing business success about who you know?
Mary Bernard thinks so:
I can’t speak for every industry and profession, but I do know that when it comes to operating a successful freelance business, it really is all about who you know. Finding potential clients, winning them, and keeping them are simply not possible unless you have a well-established and healthy network of relationships.
I agree. Most if not all of my freelancing income has come through a direct word of mouth referral. I do get the occasional client from Google but even then, I find that I prefer the ‘referred client’ over those.
It’s probably because of the trust factor. They’re just easier to work with!
So yep, cultivate those relationships. Read Mary’s post with great tips here: The Key To Freelance Success: Relationship Building.
