relationship-building

I was having one of those soul searching moment’s. You know what I mean? The kind when you start questioning things. Why am I doing this? What good can come of it? Who even really cares? You know those types of thought’s, and well when this happens, I have to step back and just take a deep breath and let a moment of clarity come.

One thing I often do when feeling this way is I will roll out a heart felt article, but not tonight. No today I decided to do the next best thing.

I find the next best thing to do is go to one of my sources of inspiration and take a look around to see what I can find to help me overcome these negative feelings and well, I have a few favorites and one of them is Right
Mix Marketing.

Tom Treanor is great, he is always mixing the right amount of information with personality and giving it to you straight.

The internet and social media is really nothing like real life. As a matter of fact, it is absurd to think that if you had a friend and all that person did was talk about themselves non stop 85 percent of the time, and hardly ever really took a sincere interest in you or what you like, that you would remain friends with them, that notion is really just laughable.

Yet this is the basis of Social Media. It’s time we stopped calling it social media. Let’s call it what it is, personal media. It is your own little personal media, Twitter stream, Facebook profile, Google Plus profile page, etc. And unless you consider your friends people you want to market products and services too, how freaking ridiculous is that notion, it is not meant to be a marketing platform, it is meant to be a way to develop and cultivate friendships and relationships.

And while I am on a roll, unless you are someone who is cultivating these relationships, or are a celebrity, or have made it in the real world, no one really cares. It is high time, people stop creating garbage content for SEO and traffic, and stop sharing images, just to illicit some cheap emotional response to feed there social media profiles. Let’s be honest what you are really trying to feed is your personal media and your personal agenda.

This is the age of ego driven technology, which does very little to solve the problems of mankind. Maybe that is not what it is intended to do in the first place. Perhaps the idea of a worldwide collective intelligence is just an impossible idea. I don’t think so, but at times, I wonder if humanities biggest problem, is well themselves.

Now let me real it back, and tone it down a notch, I did mention I was kind of in a mood right.

Now let’s take it from Tom. In Tom Treanor’s words.

The Urge to Shamelessly Blast Your Branded Messages in Social Media

You can tell that people are trying and I applaud them for that. They set up a Facebook business page and post regularly for a few months. But when there are almost no fans and all of the posts are self-promotional, they need a Social Media “intervention”!

I give Tom an 8.5 on my curation scale for this article, because of well just how great the advice is.
