Google Is Cannabalizing Reader To Feed Plus Yes Pun Intended

It is just a theory, but could Google be cannibalizing  Reader to feed Plus. I think there might somehow be some truth in this idea. Imagine taking all the traffic generated from reader and somehow forcing it through Plus, or more of it anyway. What do you think? I know there are people out there , better informed and smarter who can set the record straight.

Here is a piece from the Times, and oh by the way a great List of some alternatives to Google Reader. At the top of the list is Feedly which is getting some great feedback. To bad Yahoo can never bust a move.

“It’s still a core part of my Internet use,” wrote Dan Lewis, an avid Google Reader fan, in the petition. “And of the many, many others who are signed below. Our confidence in Google’s other products — Gmail, YouTube, and yes, even Plus — requires that we trust you in respecting how and why we use your other products.”

Some people defended the decision. Dave Winer, one of the people behind the invention of RSS, said good riddance in a blog post on his Web site. But Mr. Winer was an exception as he noted later in the day that his blog post attracted “some pretty sick comments” that he was forced to delete.
