Ted Talks are profound. If you have never listened to one, you must, like right now! Just drop everything you are doing and pick one to watch and absorb pure intelligence. To tell you why is not going to give it enough credit, but to sum it up they bring in some of the absolute smartest people in the world and they let them take the stage and blow you away with insight, humor, and style.
2013 Ted Talks, were no different. You may have heard of Sergey Brin, you know the co founder of Google. He was there talking about Google Glass. No it’s not some secret code word for some secret covert Google operation. It’s his vision of wearable tech, literally that you wear, like they are glasses.
I love his vision and apparently about 15 years later it is starting to become a reality and I quote.
“When we started Google 15 years ago,” Brin says, “my vision was that information would come to you as you need it. You wouldn’t have to search query at all.” But for now, we get information by disconnecting from other people, looking down into our smartphone. Brin asks: “Is this the way you’re meant to interact with other people?” Is the future of connection just people walking around hunched up, looking down, rubbing a featureless piece of glass? In an intimate moment, he says, “It’s kind of emasculating. Is this what you’re meant to do with your body?”
Amazing isn’t it! Fairly soon people will be wearing the Internet and have the power of Google virtually on demand without having to look all awkward and hunched over into their mobile device, as Brin stated. You might be saying well thoses Glasses on your head look a little funny, but give it a few years and it will be the normal trend. My money is on a visionary, who took over 15 years to help create one of the most successful companies in history and still to this day remains on the cutting edge. They should come out this year and there is virtually a ton of great content to view and read about them so I will get right to it. Enjoy the video. This is GLASS!
