Girl role models that rock – kids’ books for  go getting girls can be hard to find. Boy heroes crowd the shelves of our diminishing book shops.  Girls’ “adventure” stories have princesses waiting to be saved and pony detectives. Not every go getting girl’s can of cola.

Sure there is plenty of literature for girls,

with Jacqueline Wilson and Lauren Child at the top of my list. But what about action packed kick-butt, I’m gonna win and sort this out myself kind of girls. So below, kids books with the heroine smack in the middle of the action.

Molly Moon is an odd looking girl and totally not popular. She is brought up in a horrible orphanage, run by nasty adults. Then in the haven of the library she discovers her  talent for hypnotism. She hypnotizes herself to fame and fortune, but the hideous Professor Nockman will stop at nothing to use Molly for his evil deeds. Hold on to your socks for this action packed twisty adventure. Molly of course returns victorious to the orphanage and gives the kids a better life as she knows their welfare is more important than her fame.
