Hollywood Black Film Festival

October 29, 2012, on its fourth day of entertainment panels and screenings, the Hollywood Black Film Festival held the last screening at the packed Montalban Theater in the heart of Hollywood. By closing night, 39 films were screened, each time giving more inspiration to aspiring artist. In addition, the infotainment panels gave an up-close view with current industry players regarding what’s needed to survive in the Hollywood business.

For example, if you wanted to know how to build and maintain an online social presence, author Donna Michelle Anderson; gave the tip to brand your message, not your art. In the Master Class: Writers Edition panel, writer/producer, Bentley Kyle Evans (Martin, Love That Girl); gave the gems to, know your self-worth and to read as much as you can about your craft. During the Hollywood’s Top Guns: The Truth about Deal-Making, with agents, lawyers, and managers, the audience wanted to know the real challenges facing up and coming talent and how to get their foot in the door. Matt Johnson Esq., (Tyler Perry), informed the audience that there is no quick solution, and shared that it took some of his clients 10 years before their big break.
