New York-based social commerce site Fancy said Monday that it will roll out a program to compensate users for their curation and sharing. Each time a friend buys a product shared by a user, the user will get 2 percent of the transaction value.
Services like Klout and Kred may turn people’s social influence into points. But social curation site Fancy says it’s going to give users something more: payment.Calling it the “next step in its evolution,” the New York-based Pinterest rival announced Monday that it will roll out a program to compensate users for their curation and sharing.
“What we’re saying is, you the people are curating the [products] that other people are buying, and we’re benefiting because we take a commission on all transactions,” said founder and CEO Joe Einhorn. “So why don’t we compensate you for either curating or marketing for us? It makes total sense to me. I think it’s the future of the internet, which is people are going to have to get something out of these services.”
