Ascoli Piceno and Urbania (or Casteldurante) have been centers for handmade ceramics since the 15th century. Nowadays there are ceramic Museums with precious historical pieces, workshops where you can see artists at work, shops where to buy high quality handmade ceramic pieces, school where take ceramics classes yourself. Many of the modern pieces you can find in the shops are replicas of local 15th-16th century ceramics, painstakingly copied from the originals.
