Eating out in the local restaurants is always a pleasant experience here in Cingoli, the food is well prepared and the owners and chefs keen to please. But it is a little predictable: pasta followed by grilled meats. And menus rarely change.
There are of course the Michelin starred (or aspiring) establishments with their squiggles of sauce and towers of food, but they are for special occasions. What has been missing is what is so popular in the UK: seasonally focussed food, locally sourced, and lovingly prepared.
Step forward chef Andrea Tantucci who with his team runs the agriturismo restaurant Il Maiale Volante.
The place is a bit like Old Macdonald’s Farm, with a little bit of chook here, a cow there and everywhere puppies and piglets and a donkey that likes to wander past the huge dining room windows looking in at the happy eaters.
