Social network giant Facebook has acquired Q&A service Friend.ly, the startup revealed in a blog post today.Friend.ly is a Facebook application that allows users to ask and answer questions. Because the service has access to a Facebook user’s account information, it has a slight advantage over competitors like Formspring.me. Although, those who use Friend.ly tend to ask less personal questions. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it seems Facebook was more interested in Friend.ly’s talent than the service itself. As part of the acquisition deal, Friend.ly will continue to operate as a separate service, while its 10 employees (including CEO Ed Baker) will work on new projects at Facebook.
